Dr. Mauro Amendola is a board-certified physician specializing in family medicine, with a special interest in obesity medicine. A native of Youngstown, Ohio, Dr. Amendola joined Baptist Medical Group in 2023.
Dr. Thomas Bateman, certified by the American Board of Family Medicine, is a primary care physician specializing in routine health maintenance and the evaluation and treatment of acute and chronic conditions. Dr. Bateman prioritizes trust and communication in his patient relationships and takes a holistic approach to healthcare.
James Beasley, a native Memphian, is a dually certified nurse practitioner who enjoys caring for children, adults and gerontological patients. James has a broad wealth of clinical practice experience from working in the Emergency Department, Cardiology, Infectious Disease, Internal Medicine, and Pulmonary Critical Care all in the Memphis area.
A native of Conway, Arkansas, Dr. Alisha Conway taught high school biology prior to attending medical school. Dr. Conway previously worked for BMG Family Physicians Group Foundation before relocating out of state from 2013-2018. Her areas of focus include hypertension, diabetes and preventative care. Dr. Conway enjoys cooking, traveling and spending time with her family.
Quaneshia is a native Memphian obtained her Undergraduate Degree from Dillard University in New Orleans, LA with a BS in Biology. She obtained her Masters of Science in Nursing from Union University, where she was then initiated into Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society. She is a Certified Adult Nurse Practitioner who loves to provide care for ages 13 and over. She has two children, a son who loves all things basketball, and a daughter who loves all things ballet, pink, and sparkly. In her spare time, she loves sports and is a die hard New Orleans Saints & University of Memphis Tiger fan! She also enjoys all things fitness related, reading and learning, music, travel, fashion & style, as well as enjoying life and making memories with family and friends. She started fulfilling her life’s purpose with the Practice in April of 2013.
Dr. Filipcic received her undergraduate degree from Kaunas Medical Academy in 1994. She received her medical degree from Vilnius, Lithuania in 1997. She then came to the United States and completed her residency training from St. Francis Family Practice in Memphis, TN. in 2001. Dr. Filipcic is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the Tennessee Academy of Family Physicians. Dr. Filipcic is married and enjoys reading, hiking, and spending time with her children.
Dr. Michael Heck is a board-certified physician specializing in orthopedic surgery. He has more than 40 years of experience performing joint repair and replacement surgery, with a special interest in foot and ankle surgery. Dr. Heck joined BMG in 2018, where his practice consists of non-surgical treatment to patients of all ages with acute and chronic bone and joint problems.
Heather received both her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing as well as her Master of Science in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner degree from Union University. After completing school, Heather was employed in the Emergency Department at Methodist Germantown as well as Saint Francis Emergency Department. Before she became a Family Nurse Practitioner Heather worked for Methodist Hospice as a RN where she received the 2013 Methodist Alliance Nurse of the Year award. Heather and her husband’s hobbies include music and travel.
Brittany Labrador, California born - Memphis raised, received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2008 from Baptist College of Health Sciences. She worked as an RN at Baptist East ICU for six years. She went on to earn her Master of Science in Nursing graduating Magna Cum Laude from Union University in 2013. She practiced for six years as an Advance Practice Nurse Practitioner in the Emergency Department at both Methodist Germantown and St Francis prior to joining our group. Avid traveler and dog lover. She enjoys hiking, skiing, tennis, gardening and anything outdoors.
Dr. Mullinix is originally from Jamestown, TN. He attended The University of Tennessee-Knoxville for his undergraduate studies in Microbiology and Latin American Studies/Spanish. He then attended medical school in Johnson City, TN, at Quillen college of Medicine at the East Tennessee State University. He then completed residency at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas, affiliated with the University of Texas Southwestern. He then came to Memphis to do a fellowship in Obstetrics and Women’s Health with Dr. William Rodney. Over the past twenty years, he has worked full time and part time as an Emergency Medicine physician in Dyersburg, Jackson, and Memphis. He is Board Certified in Family Medicine through the American Board of Family Medicine. He is a member of the American Academy of Family Medicine and Tennessee Academy of Family Medicine. He joined the Family Physicians Group in March 2013. Dr. Mullinix enjoys traveling with his wife and three children. He also has interest in Latin America and travels there often for mission work.
Dr. Neal joined The Family Physicians Group after completing her residency at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences/Area Health Education Center-Northeast in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Dr. Neal is board certified by The American Board of Family Medicine and is a member of The American Academy of Family Physicians, the Tennessee Academy of Family Physicians, and the Memphis and Shelby County Medical Society. During her time off, Dr. Neal enjoys trips to the beach, traveling and spending time with her husband and two children.
Dr. Jose Gabriel Ongsingco is Board Certified in Family Medicine. He earned his medical degree from the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines. He completed his Residency at Mercy Family Medicine in Toledo, Ohio in 2011, where he also served as Chief Resident. He has been in private practice in the Memphis area since 2011.
Heather received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Memphis in 2007. She then began work as a nurse on the Cardiovascular Stepdown Unit until she went on to obtain her Master’s Degree as an Adult Nurse Practitioner in 2012 from Union University. While at Union University she was accepted into the Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her husband and son and is an avid Memphis basketball fan.
Susan Ruch graduated from Southwest Baptist University in 1998 and has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Physical Therapy. She specializes in orthopedics and extensive training in manual therapy and exercise to get the patient back to a pain free lifestyle. She evaluates and treats patients with health problems resulting from injury or disease. She is certified in Dry Needling. She assesses joint motion, muscle strength and endurance, function of heart and lungs, and performance of activities required in daily living, among other responsibilities. Treatments include therapeutic exercises, cardiovascular endurance training, and training in activities of daily living. She has also participated in endurance athletics, i.e. Ironman, marathons, cross-country running, and was a volleyball player in college. Susan has worked in the outpatient orthopedics setting since she graduated.
Dr. Smith is a native of West Tennessee. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville receiving the honor of Phi Beta Kappa. He received his medical degree from the University of Tennessee, Memphis in 2000 and completed his residency in Family Medicine at St. Francis hospital. As a resident he served in various leadership roles and was selected the Outstanding Graduate in 2003. He is currently a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the Tennessee Academy of Family Physicians. He is a past board member of The Tennessee Academy of Family Physicians. Dr. Smith joined The Family Physicians Group, P.C. in July, 2003 and is board certified by The American Board of Family Medicine. In his free time, he enjoys golf, Tennessee football, and spending time with his wife and two children.
Jason Stewart specializes in nurse practitioner in Cordova, TN and has over 8 years of experience in the field of medicine. He is affiliated with numerous hospitals in Tennessee and more, including Baptist Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Venegas joined Family Physicians Group in October, 2013, with a mission to provide high quality holistic medical care. Previously, he lived in Colorado where he had an Occupational Medicine and Family Practice with an emphasis on Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine. After receiving his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine in 2000 from the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific in Pomona, California, Dr. Venegas completed his residency at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine Family Medicine Residency Program. He is board certified in Family Medicine through the American Board of Osteopathic Family Physicians. Prior to medical school, he earned both a B.A. in Spanish and International Management and a Masters in Psychology from Sonoma State University. Given his love of language, Dr. Venegas studied a year abroad at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and completed studies in Portugal as well.
Dr. Wallace was born and raised in Clarksville, TN. He attended college at Austin Peay State University originally pursuing interests in art, writing and music. He graduated with degrees in Biology and Chemistry. After taking some time off with local youth ministries, he continued his studies at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in Memphis. He completed his residency training in Family Medicine in Jackson, Tennessee, and joined our Practice in August, 2003. In his free time, he enjoys fine dining, exercising at the gym, and his canine companions.
Dr. Wong was born in Indianola, MS and reared in Moorhead, MS. Dr. Wong served his internship and residency in family medicine at The Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, where he was Chief Resident. He is board certified by The American Board of Family Medicine. He specializes in sports and occupational medicine as well as family medicine. He received his board certification in sports medicine by The American Board of Family Medicine in 1997. He also served on the medical advisory staff of the “Q”, a sports club, and is team physician for Bartlett High School. Dr. Wong enjoys running, working out and spending time with his wife and their three children.
Dr. Charles Woodall is a third generation Memphian. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Family Practice. He is active in several professional societies in the area. He has served as past Treasurer of the Memphis and Shelby County Medical Society. He is married to Dr. Melanie Woodall, and they enjoy Ole Miss sports, travel, and are active with the Episcopal Church. Dr. Woodall became the President of BMG Family Physicians Group Foundation, Inc. in 2013.
Dr. Melanie Woodall is a native of Oxford, MS. She is Board Certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. She is a member of the Memphis and Shelby County Medical Society, Tennessee Medical Society, The Memphis and Shelby County Family Practice Association and The American Academy of Family Physicians. She is married to Dr. Charles Woodall, and enjoys Ole Miss sports, travel, playing piano, tennis, and horseback riding.
